Is your concrete dry? The answer is NO.

While concrete can appear dry and solid, it’s still full of moisture. A dry surface is not necessarily an accurate indicator of the slab’s overall moisture levels. Since it originates as a liquid, even after it solidifies, moisture can continue to pass through it for years. Concrete never fully dries but too much moisture can wreak unnecessary havoc, including but not limited to:

  • The growth of mold and mildew
  • Can cause organic flooring materials (such as solid hardwood, engineered wood, cork, or bamboo) to degrade or rot.
  • Can cause many types of flooring to bow, warp, or bubble.

To avoid issues such as these, concrete should be tested properly by a professional. Understanding the condition of a concrete slab requires a professional to not only conduct the tests but to establish the extent of moisture and necessary next steps. IN-Line recently had two consultants pass the test to become certified concrete moisture testers! John Lewis CR and Michael MacKinnon added this designation to their existing list of certifications. Their repertoire currently includes:

  • Certified Restorer
  • Level 1 FLIR Certification

  • CPR Certified
  • Certified in Blood Borne Pathogens Cleaning
  • Evaluating Earthquake Damage Certification
  • Xactimate Version 28 course
  • Odor Control Technician (IICRC)
